On July 1, 2015, an official decree of the Government of the Russian Federation came into force concerning the indicators of maximum permissible loads on the road surface. The introduced restrictions are forced and relate to freight vehicles carrying out transportation in excess of weight and size standards. According to the decree, limit values of loads are introduced for the total mass of the vehicle, as well as for single and close axles.

As a means of monitoring the excess of permissible indicators, special systems are used that fix the load on the roadway. Road weight control makes it possible to preliminarily identify potential offenders from the general traffic flow - vehicles that exceed weight and size standards. Such a system works "in tandem" with a stationary weight control, which stops the vehicle for subsequent inspection for violations of standards, as well as to determine the damage caused to the road surface.

Vehicle weight control analyzes the vertical forces of the axle (axle group) in motion on the road surface. Also, the weight control system on the roads determines the total mass of the vehicle, its speed and the distance between the axles. The functionality of such equipment allows you to check a vehicle moving at a sufficiently high speed. At the same time, road weight control does not in any way restrict the passage of all other vehicles moving in the general stream. Data transmission (measurement results) is carried out via wireless communication or via fiber optic cable.

The road weight control system consists of the following elements: data transmission device, control and automation cabinet, as well as special software. Power receiving modules and indicators of vehicle passage are built into the roadway.
